Trézór.io/Start® | Starting Up Your Device | Trézór®

Getting started with your Trézor® hardware wallet is a crucial first step toward securing your cryptocurrency. The official setup process is conducted through Trézor.io/Start, a trusted portal that ensures users configure their wallet safely and correctly. Whether you’ve purchased the Trézor Model One or the Trézor Model T, this guide will walk you through the essential steps to initialize your device and start managing your digital assets with peace of mind.
Why Use Trézor®?
Trézor is one of the most trusted names in crypto security, developed by SatoshiLabs. It’s a hardware wallet that stores your private keys offline, offering robust protection against online threats like malware, phishing, and hacking. Unlike web-based wallets, Trézor ensures your keys never touch the internet — making it virtually immune to remote attacks.
Step-by-Step Guide to Starting Your Trézor Device
1. Go to the Official Site: Trezor.io/Start
Visit the official setup page to avoid scams or fake firmware.
Choose your device model (Model One or Model T) and your preferred setup method: browser or Trézor Suite (recommended).
2. Download and Install Trézor Suite
Trézor Suite is the official desktop app for managing your wallet.
Download it directly from https://suite.trezor.io for Windows, macOS, or Linux.
Alternatively, you can use the web interface, but the desktop app is more secure.
3. Connect Your Device
Plug in your Trézor using the supplied USB cable.
Follow the on-screen prompts to initialize the device.
If your device is brand new, it may require a firmware installation. Confirm the installation on the device screen when prompted.
4. Create a New Wallet or Recover an Existing One
Select "Create New Wallet" to start fresh.
Choose Standard or Hidden Wallet (the latter adds an optional passphrase).
If restoring from a backup, choose "Recover Wallet" and enter your 12, 18, or 24-word recovery phrase.
🔐 Important: Always write down your recovery phrase by hand and store it securely offline. Never take a photo or store it digitally.
5. Backup Your Wallet
During setup, your Trézor will generate a recovery seed.
Write down the words in the correct order on the provided recovery card.
Confirm a few of the words on your device to complete the backup process.
6. Set Your PIN
Create a secure PIN code to protect access to the device.
You’ll enter the PIN each time you connect your wallet to Trézor Suite.
